Lewes residents watched anxiously as this year's highest tide so far threatened to burst river banks once again.
The River Ouse came dangerously close to spilling over in to the streets of Lewes at 2pm yesterday then returned to normal levels without any flooding.
The event brought back bad memories for the town's population, many of who have still not been able to return to their homes since last year's floods.
Earlier this week the Environment Agency warned September marked the start of the flood season and warned homeowners and businesses across Sussex to be on their guard.
