Ashley Rees is ready to follow in David Beckham's footsteps.
The 11-year-old from Saltdean will perform at Old Trafford after winning a Manchester United Soccer Skills competition at Roedean.
The Longhill pupil had to take on around 120 youngsters aged from five to 16-years-old to secure his place in the club's national finals to take place either in November or December.
He said: "I was shocked to come out on top when they added up all the points for the different tests. I'm really pleased with myself for achieving it.
"It was difficult. I had to dribble around six people in the first test. I also had to do the lofted pass and I scored points for accuracy. Then I had to juggle the ball while walking.
"My favourite player is David Beckham and I know he won a similar competition which was called the Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools. So to go on and achieve just a little of what he has would be fantastic.
"Manchester United is my team and I'd love to go there. I've only been inside the stadium once, when they played Bolton in 1998.
"I used to play in midfield like David but I've switched to being a striker and I think I'm quite skilful and fast."
The Brighton Boys striker is proving quite a hit in his forward role.
He scored 50 goals for Meridian in the Sussex Sunday Youth League last season.
Ashley has joined Withdean 2000 this term and already grabbed eight in two games, including seven in the opening game against Seaford and one against Ratton Rangers.
The former Saltdean Primary pupil has big plans. He said: "I am ambitious and would like to be a professional footballer."
Withdean general manager Mark Stevens is aware of his new ace's long-terms plans.
He smiled: "He is already practising signing his autographs."
Stevens added: "We're all delighted he has won the Manchester United competition.
"We seem to have picked up a few good boys that we coach good football into. Sam Gargan, Stuart Axten, Rikki Tidy and James Hancock, who played for us last year, have joined the Albion Centre of Excellence set-up for this season."
In the meantime, Ashley is preparing for a second league match against Seaford tomorrow.
His mum Linda said: "They beat them 20-0 last time when Ashley got seven."
