When is something going to be done about the pathetic record of Brighton NHS Trust? Nearly every week there is a report pointing out the continual failings.
The breast cancer treatment - or lack of - is an absolute disgrace with the second worse record in the county.
Operations are 17,000 below target, involve a wait of six weeks for a scan, four weeks for emergency cancer treatment (but if you are a private patient you don't have to wait that long). When you eventually get to start your treatment, the staff are overworked because the machines are so old they keep breaking down, so the patient load builds up but must be cleared for the next day's patients.
Patients don't complain because either they don't want to make a fuss or are afraid it might affect their treatment. Well, they should complain and make a fuss and then, perhaps, this incompetence will stop.
East Sussex Brighton and Hove Health Authority warns it could be £4 million overspent in its budget. The Government has said more money has gone into NHS trusts. I presume the authority has had some extra funding - so what has it done with it?
There should be a public Government inquiry into the disgraceful way this is run. The managers seem to have lost the plot as to what they are paid to do. In the private sector, they would have been out of a job for incompetence.
