Simon Fanshawe (The Argus, September 20) used New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani's ability to rise to the media occasion to score points for the upcoming referendum in Brighton and Hove and his own support for the Yes campaign. This opportunism so soon after the traumatic events in the US saddened me dreadfully.
He and others should be ashamed of having so gleefully spotted ammo for their own campaign and so insensitively shot it off. It isn't even effective. New York is a minor city state with a population of well over eight million (like London) and a major world position of influence. Our neck of the woods is a paddling pool, by contrast, with very different needs.
