A man who plunged 100ft to his death in his car near Brighton Marina has been identified as 26-year-old Matthew Cager.
Mr Cager, of no fixed abode, had been living in his car, which careered off the slip road by Marine Gate in Brighton, cut across both carriageways of the A259, ploughed through a fence and plummeted on to the Undercliff Walk behind Asda on Friday night.
The red P-registration Ford Fiesta bounced off the cliff as it fell, then rolled over and came to rest in an upright position.
It ended up on the Undercliff Walk, which was cordoned off following a cliff fall in May.
Mr Cager, who has links with the Whitehawk area of Brighton, was the only person in the car and died later at Royal Sussex County Hospital.
His mother was at his bedside when he died.
Wreaths left by the cliff said: "To Dear Matthew" and "Why, Why Why?"
Police are appealing for witnesses to call Sergeant Trevor Botting at Shoreham traffic division on 0845 6070999.
