I have to reply to the coverage of the lack of stars given to the Royal Sussex County Hospital (September 25).
Although I am sure the report is accurate, I would like to speak up for one small section of the hospital where I work.
I am a volunteer massage therapist on Howard One, the cancer ward where patients go to receive their chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
I have been there for 11-and-a-half years and, in all that time, the standard has never dropped.
The nursing care is superb, the knowledge and professionalism of the nurses is incredible and the love they show to each and every patient is beyond words.
The atmosphere on the ward is calm and holistic and each patient is aware the staff has time for them, no matter how busy or stressed they may be.
The ward and the staff who work there deserve more stars than are available. It is a unique star in its own right.
