With regard to Spencer Payne's complaint about bad mobile phone reception at Woodingdean and Rottingdean (September 27), we three ward councillors and many residents campaigned against telephone masts and won.
Woodingdean is surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty and we have a mast on the Bexhill Road, so we don't want any more, thank you very much, just so someone can use a mobile while driving through our villages.
In future, I suggest you keep your mind on the road and not on the phone before a nasty accident occurs.
-Coun Geoff Wells, Woodingdean
