I went to a meeting about privatisation of public services and the general feeling was no - not just in Brighton and Hove, but across the country.
It would seem all questions and answers are rubber-stamped behind closed doors When it all goes pear-shaped, who picks up the pieces?
We, the taxpayers do. Why? Because the people who decide are unaccountable for their actions.
In Brighton and Hove, we have paid time and time again. It's a fiasco.
Not two years ago we, the people of Brighton, paid an extra six per cent for the foul-up. Yes, we say, no problem, what's money?
Now the latest foul-up is going to us an extra 20 per cent for the service we paid six per cent for two years ago.
I challenge Councillor Bodfish over his right to lead us. My one-year-old granddaughter could do better.
My challenge would be one-to-one over the electorate of Brighton and Hove, not behind closed doors with friends and mates.
No, this time every taxpayer would have a say. I can tell you now, Coun Bodfish would lose. Privatisation does not work and taxpayers have had enough.
Privatisation out and local services back in-house. Coun Bodfish, take the challenge if you dare. Listen to the people of your city.
