Albion boss Micky Adams has urged fans not to take another Withdean win for granted against his old club Brentford tonight.
Victory would leave the Seagulls one away from equalling the club record 14 straight home successes, achieved by Peter Taylor's team in 1975-76.
Adams felt the crowd went quiet during the second half of the last home game against Bournemouth and he warned: "Myself and the players don't take winning at home for granted.
"We cannot approach any game that way and we would hope the fans don't become complacent."
Albion will return to the top of the table if they better Oldham's result at Bournemouth.
Ex-Brentford midfielder Charlie Oatway has emphasised the part another sell-out gate has to play in making that possible.
Oatway, who will be accompanied in the starting line-up by fellow former Bees Paul Watson and Danny Cullip, declared: "We need our fans behind us, no matter what the score is.
"If you are losing you need them to pick you up. If you're drawing you need them to help you fight for another goal and if you are winning you need them to keep encouraging and make sure you don't get sloppy.
"It did go a little bit quiet against Bournemouth. I hope it doesn't tonight and that they get right behind us and we get the right result."
Brentford finished 14th last season under Ray Lewington. Steve Coppell has steered them into fourth with only one League defeat and their promising start is not unexpected as far as Adams is concerned.
"They would have had a better season last time, but Ijah Andreson and Darren Powell were out injured for long spells and Lloyd Owusu had a spell out as well," Adams said.
"It's just a case of them getting their players back fit, so their position doesn't surprise me at all."
A groin problem has wrecked the chances of fringe midfielder Steve Melton returning to the bench.
German striker Dirk Lehmann has recovered from a similar injury, but he missed training yesterday with toothache.
Albion are expected to start training at Christ's Hospital School in Horsham from Monday.
They will stay there until the pitches at the University of Sussex, Falmer, are brought back up to standard.
