Two police officers have been honoured after they stopped a suicidal woman from jumping off a cliff.
Sergeant Roger Fry and PC Gregory Thompson were awarded certificates of merit for their actions after being called to help a woman on cliffs directly above Brighton Marina.
After first trying to engage the woman in conversation, the pair crept up on her and dragged her to safety.
Despite her efforts to struggle free the officers were able to take her into custody for her own protection.
The incident, which occurred in April, was extremely hazardous as there had been a major cliff fall at that exact location the previous day.
A detective has been rewarded for investigating thefts of antiques.
Detective Constable Felicity Murray was awarded a certificate of merit for helping to secure convictions against two men for handling stolen property.
The investigation began after several break-ins at houses across rural West Sussex in 1998. After the burglaries, valuable antiques were being entered for sale at auction houses.
As a result of work by detectives, two men were arrested. The pair were ultimately acquitted of the nine burglaries but were convicted on charges of handling stolen goods.
In May, Barry Gwyer, 42, of Oaktree Way, Hailsham, was jailed for five years and Kevin Iliffe, of Michel Dene Road, East Dean, was jailed for four and a half years.
The trial judge commended Ms Murray, stationed at Steyning at the time but now at Horsham, for her work.
Presenting the certificate of merit, Acting Chief Constable Maria Wallis said: "This award recognises her persistence and determination."
