It is about time Stuart Welling, of Brighton Health Trust, looked into why there is a shortage of nurses in his hospitals, in the light of yet another patient dying in appalling conditions.
The story of Ian Moy-Loader (The Argus, October 1) means there is a serious crisis in Brighton and no one seems to do anything about it.
Recently I was in the Royal Sussex Hospital for seven days. Not once was my bed made.
My water was only changed when my husband did it. My meals were delivered and taken away without me being asked why I had not touched them.
I do not blame the nurses, who were so busy sometimes they did not have a break themselves and never went off-duty on time.
Several nurses I spoke to said they were looking for jobs outside Brighton and Hove because the pay and conditions were better. They do not get paid extra if they work on Saturday.
On night duty, if they work until 8am, they only get extra pay until 6am. Worthing and Eastbourne have much better rates of pay.
