Manager Billy Smith blasted slack finishing as Crawley's Cup dreams were ended with a 3-1 defeat at Weymouth.
The Dr Martens premier side surrendered the lead and were undone by goals either side of half-time.
Crawley failed to capitalise on their first-half domination.
Smith said: "We should have won the game in the first half, there is no doubt of that.
"We had much more of the game overall but did not take the chances when they came our way and I felt we did not really have the rub of the green."
Smith could not have wished for a better start as Steve Restarick put his side ahead after just four minutes, coolly despatching his eighth goal of the season past goalkeeper Danny Potter.
But Potter then proved the thorn in Crawley's side.
He all but won the game for Weymouth with a series of fine first-half saves.
Warren Waugh was denied twice by the goalkeeper, while Danny Carroll saw a low shot superbly palmed away.
Warren Bagnall missed the best chance for Crawley as he raced through on goal but Potter saved before the Reds striker screwed the rebound wide.
Weymouth drew level against the run of play in first-half injury time as Michael Dean's corner was headed home by Alex Browne.
Straight after the break, Weymouth seized the initiative with a goal four minutes into the half as Mark Robinson set up Lee Phillips to thump a fine shot past Andy Little into the top corner.
Crawley struggled to impose any sustained pressure on their hosts and the Terras wrapped up victory in the last minute as Dean picked out David Laws who fired past Little.
