So now the reason for the transfer of the breast care unit is lack of space for expansion and improvement.
If the health authority wasn't so obsessed with shoe-horning every hospital service into one overcrowded site, with poor access and inadequate parking facilities, I doubt there would be a problem.
Why is it necessary to travel to Haywards Heath to find space? Over the years, we have lost Windlesham Road and Hove General.
The Children's Hospital and Brighton General Hospital are, I believe, also due for transfer to Eastern Road.
The site in Hove reserved for many years for the new Hove hospital has been totally wasted on the limited day-care facilities available.
Southlands seems to be heading for closure. The whole focus seems to be on convenience for management and medical staff rather than serving the community.
