Hove teenager Sean Tomsett has narrowly missed out on winning the Summer Kart Championship at Lydd.

Tomsett, 17, for just ten points behind championship rival David Baker going into the final round but he had to settle for second place.

In heat one, Tomsett started at the back of the grid but came through to take third place and in heat two he finished second.

The decisive moment came in the third and final heat when Tomsett's kart seized up and he failed to score valuable points.

Starting on the back of the grid for the final, Tomsett battled through to claim victory.

Tomsett said: "I won the final in the wet and ended up second in the championship, just 15 points behind. If I had won the third heat as I expected I would have won the championship."

Multiple Le Mans 24 Hour race winner Derek Bell from Pagham scored his best Speedvision GT Championship result of the year when the Sussex legend claimed third place at Road Atlanta.
