Unidentified white powder sparked an anthrax scare at Gatwick Airport today.
The small amount of powder, discovered in a baggage handling area, has been taken away to a laboratory to be tested.
It was discovered on the ground by baggage handling staff in a section of the airport where cases which have been unloaded from aircraft are collected to be put on a baggage belt.
More powder was discovered in the arrivals area of the North Terminal. Both areas were sealed off.
A Gatwick spokesman said: "White powder was found and taken away to be investigated, which is standard procedure when there is a leak of any unknown substance."
