Costumed torch bearers, illuminated floats, marching bands and vintage vehicles took part in Littlehampton's bonfire celebrations.

Littlehampton Bonfire Society's big night on Saturday was headed by a convoy of steam engines which came from across Sussex and Hampshire to take part.

More than 50,000 people witnessed the parade, which was followed by the lighting of a mammoth bonfire and a spectacular firework display.

The event raises thousand of pounds for local charities each year. This year's main beneficiary was the Chestnut Tree House children's hospice appeal.

Bonfire society secretary Richard Cooper said: "We are delighted that the number of steam engines taking part in our processions has increased so much in recent years."
