Nora Potter was an institution in the Sussex business world for almost 40

years.

She was around when Brighton and Hove had a thriving manufacturing sector.

But the world has changed and new industries in the city and Sussex as a whole, tend to be e-commerce and service orientated.

The days of apprenticeships are over and now well-qualified young people can earn salaries of £40,000 a year on leaving university.

Mrs Potter says: "It is a completely different ball game these days.

Everything is computerised. you are not getting the personal touch any more."

She is almost 90 but still has her finger on the pulse and is right about many things, especially the need to export.

In the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies she was a woman in a man's world and she still has a lot of good advice to offer.
