A new mobile phone purchasing option has been launched this autumn.
BT Cellnet has introduced a mobile phone deal combining an off-the-shelf package with an ongoing monthly subscription service.
The Pay Monthly Xtra £160 phone is designed to be sold without customers having to buy top-up vouchers or queue to fill out paperwork to activate a connection.
Users can call the BT Cellnet connect at home team to choose a preferred service from seven plans in their own time.
Bills are issued monthly for payment by direct debit.
The WAP-enabled phone comes in two Nokia handset styles, the 3330 model for £149 or the 8210 model for £199.
The deal includes £160-worth of free call time credited to the phone a month after the contract is initiated.
BT Cellnet has almost 11 million customers and a GSM network covering about 90 per cent of the UK land area.
