The cat being evicted from Mill View Hospital (Letters, October 25) should be allowed to stay.

This cat, known as "the reception cat", has been made welcome there for two years but, because he now has fleas, has to go.

If all pet owners followed this pattern, most cats would be homeless.

All cats get fleas but a vet will quickly give advice on how to de-flea this cat.

Even the local pet shop can help. I am sure this black moggy does a great deal of good by offering himself to be fussed and stroked by the patients.

It has been proved that pets are therapeutic for sick people, helping to heal and speed recovery.

In return for his services, the reception cat receives tit-bits from patients and staff.

What a perfect - or should I say purrfect - relationship.

For goodness' sake, de-flea the cat and let this ideal partnership continue.
