Ben Cooke of the Sussex Martlets has risen from grade four to qualify for the grade two national finals of trampolining less than two years after taking up the sport.
Cooke was one of a several Sussex competitors who excelled in Sunday's Grade Two tournament at Chippenham.
He won through to the finals of the under-18 boys with an excellent score of 54.90 after the opening two qualifying rounds to clear the qualifying mark by 1.9.
The Sussex youngster was pipped into 9th place by fellow Martlet Adam Weller.
Cooke is joined by eight colleagues from the Sussex Martlets in the grade two final to be held in Hull on November 24.
Charles Warburton produced a strong finish to maintain his sixth place in the under-13 boys and Sarah Hinton performed a good second round to finish 14th in the under-11 field.
There was disappointment for Katie Brown who travelled to Chippenham with a back injury but she was forced to withdraw before competiting to avoid aggravating her injury further.
In grade four Myffy Cairns gained her second title in as many weeks with second places for Nicole Murray and Charlotte Brown.
Grade five saw Martlets among the winners again through Phillip Brown (under-11s) and Charles Milner-Smith (under-13s) while the girls under-9s claimed the team title.
In the boys under-9s Martlets took five out of a the first six places at grade six while Sophie Murray was second in the individual event. Abbygail Eames was runner-up at under-11s on her debut.
