The allocation of 60 grants to voluntary organisations was announced nine months late in September.
Since then, there have been protests against Brighton and Hove City Council's cuts in The Argus, national news and on local BBC radio, as well as by three deputations to council.
Not once has there been an apology for the delay and distress to the organisations or an offer of investigation.
The scheme is supposed to be "accountable, transparent and open".
How, then, can Councillor Don Turner say he will not discuss the details of the decision because it is confidential ("Homes charity in money crisis", The Argus, October 30)?
This is public money. If the council will not keep its promises, the community and voluntary sector is determined to.
Thanks to our pressure, there will be a scrutiny inquiry into the process next month.
The community and voluntary sector gives magnificent value to the people of Brighton and Hove. This is an issue that will not go away until it has been openly investigated.
