Are the recently-proposed changes to the welcome sign an admission by its perpetrators that it is a total eyesore and completely out of place with everything else in Brighton and Hove?

It ain't even good kitsch. It will take more than a few seasonal bedding plants and a herbaceous border to sort it out.

I was hoping an XR3-i could improve it early one Sunday morning but the boys seem to prefer the chevrons.

Get a proper artist to sort it out or, if we can't afford it, run a design competition and get the community involved.
