Now refuse collection and street cleaning has returned to council control, let there be no more problems with the service.
It has not always been a black-bag service.
I can remember the collector opening the front door, calling, then walking in, picking up the bin, taking it to the vehicle, emptying and then returning it.
We also had a water cart sprinkling water on to the roads in hot weather. Pavements were swept, weeds removed and gutters kept inblocked.
Can we expect this street cleaning service to return, Mr Bodfish, without a further increase in our rates?
