Albion's PFA rep Andy Crosby has revealed the players would be prepared to strike if the row over TV cash is not resolved.

Players up and down the country run the risk of being in breach of contract with their clubs and not being paid if they refuse to play in front of the cameras.

Crosby said: "We do know that. The votes have gone in, the situation was explained to us before we voted and we have voted for it.

"I still don't think it will come to that. The Premier League and Sky cannot afford to let it happen. It will probably cost them more money than to give the PFA what they want."

Ninety nine per cent of players voted for strike action last Friday in a PFA ballot of its members. The players' union insist they are entitled to five per cent of the lucrative TV deal and talks with the Premier League will resume later this week in a bid to thrash out a solution.

All Albion matches have TV cameras present for highlights programmes, but their visit to promotion rivals Brentford in January is due to be screened live on ITV's digital channel.

Crosby said: "If the cameras were turned off the game would still go ahead. It's not a case of us calling games off, it's a case of not playing when the cameras are there."

Meanwhile, Bobby Zamora has set a post-War club record by reaching 50 goals in just 74 matches.

Albion's star striker brought his half-century up with the winner against Port Vale at Withdean on Saturday.

That puts him third on the all-time list behind Arthur Attwood and Jack Doran, according to figures released by club historian Tim Carder.

Attwood scored 50 in 51 games in the 1930s, while Doran took 71 matches to reach the milestone in the 1920s.

The legendary Peter Ward made the mark in 77 appearances, Kurt Nogan in 87 and Garry Nelson in 108.

Kerry Mayo and Nathan Jones picked up knocks in training yesterday, but they should both be fit for Saturday's first round FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury at Withdean.

Tickets are still available, but the next home League game against Peterborough a week tomorrow is sold out.

Albion's reserves seek their first Combination win of the season at Colchester today (2pm).
