Colin Chapman, (Letters, November 12) in his defence of the war in Afghanistan, clearly demonstrated that truth is the first casualty of war.
Islamic fundamentalism is as "threatening to Western values as Communism", why, then, were the Taliban armed, trained and even created by the US and its client, the Pakistani government, in order to destroy a progressive Afghani regime?
