So Gatwick is in decline with fewer passengers and loss of jobs (The Argus, November 15). But there is a silver lining in that aeroplanes are the worst polluters, with the highest energy consumption and, moreover, tax-free fuel for which all other transport users have to pay.
The fewer planes the better for us all. There are plenty of job vacancies in the South for those who want to work.
