A bitter winter has descended on Afghanistan and, with Christmas approaching, the Brighton and Hove Unicef group continues its appeal for funds to help protect children from the effects of one of the world's most acute humanitarian emergencies.
Some 7.5 million people are still at immediate risk, of whom 70 per cent are women and children and 20 per cent are children under the age of five.
Every penny raised by the Brighton and Hove Unicef appeal will be used to meet the needs of women and children by providing emergency health kits, basic medication to combat diarrhoea, supplementary food, blankets, children's warm winter clothing and shoes and plastic sheeting and tents.
Unicef asks readers to find it in their hearts to support our efforts to help the innocent children of Afghanistan. All donations will be gratefully received.
