Imagine how easy it would be to protect your computer network if all you had
to do was connect to the internet with a stand-alone firewall appliance.
The RoBoX may offer some peace of mind for small network operators (with less than 25 users) as it is self-contained and ready to run straight from the box.
It is a completely self-contained unit with a runtime system pre-installed. The system simply needs to be configured for your local network requirements.
The RoBoX runs GNAT Box firewall software and was built specifically to address the requirements of a branch office system.
Although lacking in onboard features, it is versatile and has three high-speed 10/100 UTP Ethernet interfaces to insure high performance and network design flexibility.
It uses flash memory technology to store and run the system software so there is no hard disk in the system to generate heat and become a point of failure. Power is supplied by an external power transformer.
Additional network security is offered by a bolt-on software accessory called Cyber Patrol, which allows system administrators to prevent employees accessing unauthorised web sites during work hours.
The RoBoX unit is both compact and attractive. Measuring about six inches square and an inch thick and finished in black, it is ideal for the small office or home user.
The RoBoX software package does not have too many extravagant bells and whistles but when it comes to security, simple and effective make a good combination.
