A bus driver was shaken but uninjured after a tree collapsed on his vehicle.
The Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company single-decker was badly damaged in the incident at Valley Road, Withdean, Brighton.
Bus company managing director Roger French said: "The driver was a little bit shaken but is okay now. There was nobody else on board.
"The front end of the bus is damaged but is repairable. It looks very dramatic."
A police spokeswoman said it appeared that the park-and-ride bus struck the tree, causing the top half to break off.
"We closed Valley Drive on the advice of the fire brigade. The council used chainsaws to cut down the remainder of the tree."
She said a telephone cable was also brought down and engineers from BT were called.
