Sussex will get its own youth league. Organisers have received a grant of more than £3,000 from the lottery funded Awards For All.
The league starts on January 12 and will feature around 140 youngsters in under-13s and under-15s age groups. Brighton, West Park, Horsham, Lancing, Mid Sussex and Lewes will all field sides The venues are to be decided. Sussex netball development officer Helen Willard said: "It is great news. The idea is to establish netball countywide out of schools while providing a link into senior club netball.
"We hope to expand beyond 140 kids. The money should keep us going for a couple of years but we hope to get some more.
"The alternative would be to eventually try to self-fund ourselves."
