I really must write to thank everyone involved for the wonderful treatment I received at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
My wife had to call an ambulance after I suffered severe chest pains on the afternoon of December 3. I was received in A&E, where I was treated with the utmost sympathy and care.
I felt so safe in their hands and, whatever the outcome, it was obvious the best was being done for me.
After a suitable time had passed, I was taken to the Cardiac Care Unit on Level 7, where we were met by a very professional staff nurse, Ann King who, with her colleague Mark, set about the task of making me comfortable and pain free.
I was in this unit for the next seven days and, being a people-watcher, it was plain to see that, here, I was being cared for by the rest of the team of very professional young men and women, all making it quite clear all their patients were important to them - and without the slightest hint of ageism.
The same happened when I had to go to the angio theatre. Because I was a little apprehensive, they were so gentle and kind, with a touch of humour too.
Last, but by no means least, I thank the softly spoken and seemingly unflappable Dr Steve Homberg.
The cardiac team at the hospital must be second to none and I defy anyone to say differently.
So I thank everyone, not forgetting, of course, the paramedics who picked me up in the first place.
