A town cinema has been so successful that film showings will be increased next year.
The screenings at the Meridian Centre in Peacehaven will be held every fortnight instead of every month.
Residents have flocked to the venue to see films which have been shown only weeks after appearing at main cinemas.
The films were introduced after the town council agreed a deal with a company that specialises in showing films to the public before they are released on video or DVD.
The town used to have a cinema on South Coast Road but it was demolished after the Second World War.
Screenings started last summer and the introduction of snacks and the showing of major blockbusters has sparked a surge in popularity among residents.
People had to be turned away from showings of Bridget Jones's Diary, Gladiator and Captain Correlli's Mandolin.
Town clerk John Shepherd said: "The cinema has really taken off and we will be showing films fortnightly next year.
"When there is a popular film showing, people have to get their tickets beforehand and cannot risk turning up on the night."
The smash hit Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone is one of the films scheduled for the spring.
The town council wants to spend money to revamp the community hall and make it into a cinema and theatre.
