We unexpectedly met up with the police checks at Handcross Hill that Ian Slater was talking about (Letters, December 20).
The queue of vehicles at 8.30am was very, very long. We were on our way to Gatwick Airport and had a deadline to keep to. It was a good thing we had left home earlier than normally necessary because our journey took an extra 20 minutes.
