Unlucky Grant Talibard was invited back to a Weakest Link special for contestants who finished second - only to be runner-up again.
Once more, the Hove gardener was told by acerbic host Anne Robinson he would leave with nothing.
In his first appearance, Grant, 41, was applauded for not eliminating his major rival for the cash prize when he had the opportunity.
He then missed out on more than £2,000 in the head-to-head final.
But the show's producers gave him another bite at the cherry and Grant thought his previous good deed would be rewarded when he scraped into the final again.
But it was not to be, and he fell at the final hurdle again.
He said: "They invited the best runners-up from the last year for the show. I didn't realise I was one of the best but it was nice to be asked.
"The best runners-up were not necessarily the cleverest though. We only had £1,200 at the end.
"After the show I said it wouldn't even pay off my credit card bill. But with Christmas gone I would have appreciated it now.
"I thought my reward for being sporting last time would be to win this time. But I think it is just the luck of the draw with the questions."
The producers asked if Grant, referred to by Anne Robinson as the Capability Brown of Brighton, would be willing to make a third appearance and he said he would - but vowed not to criticise his rivals.
He said: "They encourage you to say unpleasant things about the other contestants, but I think it is undignified."
But Grant said he was more than happy to be cheeky to Anne Robinson's face, as were most of the contestants.
On the day the show featuring Grant was recorded, another episode featuring transvestites was filmed.
Brighton-based drag queen Dave Lynn featured in the show, which was broadcast at the weekend, and he too was pipped for the money in the final.
