A man who conned a nun out of more than £2,000 has been jailed for 21 months.
Robert Weate, 37, offered to resurface the drive of the Poor Clares Monastery in Arundel for a bargain price of £110 - but then demanded a huge sum when the job was done.
Guildford Crown Court heard that his victim, Sister Angela, felt she had to pay but the work was so sub-standard that holes soon appeared in the drive.
Weate pleaded guilty to four counts of deception.
Two other defendants have already been jailed for three years for their part in the scam.
Samantha Cohen, prosecuting, said the men approached members of the public and offered to surface their drives at a remarkably good price, which was then inflated.
Weate was a member of a gang which duped a string of victims, including Erasure pop star Vince Clarke.
He even conned his old school, More House in Surrey, which paid more than £5,000 for work before holes started appearing in the driveway and tennis courts.
Judge Keith Bassingthwaite told Weate: "Grossly inflated prices were charged for sub-standard work and you show a degree of participation through your plea of guilty."
After the hearing, Sister Angela said: "I'm sorry for all the people he conned, especially the old and vulnerable, and I hope people like him get caught.
"Our line here is to take things and move on and we keep in our prayers the people who are affected by men like him. But I won't be taking a vengeful stance."
