The population of East Sussex is expected to rise by six per cent in the next decade.
Figures from East Sussex County Council show an expected increase in population from 503,400 to 532,200 by the year 2011.
The number of young adults aged 16 to 29 should increase by 16 per cent and the number of people between retirement age and 74 by 18 per cent.
But the figures predict there will be a drop of six per cent in the number of people aged 85 and over.
Wealden district, which covers Hailsham, Crowborough and a number of villages, may have the highest increase in population with an additional 7,800 people in the area.
