Jack Pearce faces a major challenge to revive Bognor's faltering season after they suffered 2-1 Trophy humiliation at Bashley.
Like Eastbourne Borough, Rocks were beaten by a very late goal but that was where all similarities with Garry Wilson's men ended.
Boss Pearce admitted he may have to bring in three or four new players after his side suffered their second cup defeat of the season away to the struggling New Forest outfit.
Stuart Hussey struck in the fourth and final minute of added time to give his side a 2-1 victory, just six minutes after substitute Nicky Wyatt looked to have earned Bognor a replay.
There was no lack of effort from the Sussex side but, without wide men David Birmingham and Richard Hudson, they lacked the cutting edge going forward.
In defence, they always looked vulnerable to the pacey counter-attacking of Hussey, Richard Gillespie and Keith Middleton, who almost scored in the opening 30 seconds.
Pearce also offered the clearest indication yet that he is losing patience with young goalkeeper Craig Stoner, who lacks authority when dealing with crosses and through balls.
The Rocks boss said: "I'm very uptight about this result. I thought we worked our socks off but let's be truthful, we've now lost twice to a team who are at the very bottom of their league. We consistently passed the ball poorly in the final third and it's very difficult to create chances when you do that. I also worry about my goalkeeper. He's a smashing lad but I am most probably asking him to do something he is not capable of.
"I will be talking to the chairman because I need to make three or four changes if we are going to win promotion."
Simon Funnell, Guy Rutherford and Charlie Balfe all had chances before Anthony Tilley's precise through ball sent Hussey clear to slide the 41st-minute opener past Stoner at the near post.
Stoner was bailed out by Miles Rutherford's brilliant intervention when his 63rd-minute error presented Gillespie with what looked like being an open goal.
Miles Rutherford then provided the through ball for Wyatt, who offered an extra dimension to his side's attacking work, to expertly round goalkeeper Oli Rastall and slide home the equaliser.
Bashley's sponsors and officials recognised their side's defensive endeavours when, after great deliberation, they told the PA man to declare Mark Jones as man-of-the-match.
That was before Bognor's defending let them down one last time and Tilley's low cross was forced home by his unmarked strike partner at the far post.
"Today's man of the match," came the announcement. "Stuart Hussey!"
A fine piece of improvisation with which no one could argue. Least of all the shattered Rocks.
