May I remind Brighton and Hove City Council that almost four months ago (October 18, 2001) the people of our city not only rejected an elected mayor but also voted for an improved committee system.
If, following a General Election, a government can put into place dozens of ministers and select committees in a matter of days, why are we still waiting for what we voted for?
Surely, it's not the case that several stale and past-it senior councillors are desperately clinging on to their fiefdoms, in defiance of a democratic vote - or is it?
