Bob Paine quit as joint manager of Storrington after a 3-1 defeat at home to Wealden sent them to the bottom of Rich City County League division two.

The Swans were hopeful of getting a result against a Wealden side which had been beaten 8-0 in midweek by East Grinstead.

David Spink's early strike gave them hope but Wealden fought back to win thanks to Craig Brown's bobbling 20-yarder, Lee Sale's 13th of the campaign and a superb 40-yard effort from Gideon Sutcliffe near the end.

Paine said: "Saturday was very poor and we are bottom now. Results have not been acceptable and I just can't carry on as it is."

Paine had been working alongside Nigel Dyer, who will continue as player-manager.

Bosham moved off the bottom after beating Oakwood 3-2. Mark Lampard's first-minute strike sent them on their way with Dave Storey hitting the other two, including a late winner. Replies came from Zak Newman and Chris Belgrave.

Oving beat Mile Oak 3-0 with all the goals coming in the first half. Mike Godolphin scored twice after John Edwards had broken the deadlock.

Shinewater's new manager Dave Shearing now realises the task ahead after his new charges lost 8-1 at home to Crawley Down.

On target for the visitors were Nick Sullivan (two), Darren Tidey (two), Dave Connor, Darren Fryer, Doug Cashman and Eddie Thomson, with Graham Holman getting Shine's consolation.

East Preston edged out Seaford 3-2 with goals from Dave Walker, Dave Clayton and Lee Farrell. Replies came from Steve Lambert and Adam Livings.

East Grinstead's promotion push suffered a setback as they were held to a 2-2 draw by a Worthing United side who included former Albion midfielder Danny Davis, on loan from Worthing.

All the goals came in the final 26 minutes with James Horner twice putting the Wasps ahead, including a terrific second goal but substitute Steve Blake drew Worthing level on each occasion.

Shoreham and Rye United will clash in the semi-finals of the Division Two Cup but both are claiming promotion is the priority.

Mark Pulling's 35-yard strike earned Shoreham a 1-0 win in their quarter final at Westfield.

Rye went through 2-1 against Lancing thanks to an early Shaun Loft header and Simon Colbran's 28th-minute volley. Glen Soutar pulled one back late on for Lancing.

The semi-finals will be made up of the top four teams in the division with Eastbourne Town meeting East Grinstead in the other match.

Eastbourne went through 2-0 against Broadbridge Heath thanks to an inspirational display from Wes Tate.

Mark Reeve, with a 38th-minute header, and Yemi Odubade, with a late effort, took Town through.

In the Combined Counties League, Withdean fought back from 2-0 down to beat Sandhurst Town 3-2 with goals from Clay Lamont, Roy Pook and Justin Simmons.
