Environmentalists placed 30 wooden stakes around a nature spot in their campaign to get it included in the proposed South Downs National Park.
The volunteers from the Friends of Whitehawk Hill put the stakes around the hill in Brighton today to mark out where the National Park boundary should extend.
The group wants the hill included because it will give it a recognised status and more protection from development.
A public consultation period into a proposed park runs until February 28 2002.
Twenty-three roadshows are being held throughout Hampshire, West Sussex and East Sussex, giving people the chance to see a map of the draft boundary and ask questions.
A roadshow is being held tomorrow at Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, between 11.30am and 3.30pm.
Call 0775 4176536 or 020 7340 2991 about the roadshows or visit The Countryside Agency web site at www.countryside. gov.uk/proposednationalparks/
