Parking attendants employed by Brighton and Hove City Council have done a good job since they took over from traffic wardens six months ago.
They have managed to reduce illegal parking in many parts of the city, allowing traffic to flow more freely and people to park nearer their homes.
But there can be no excuse for attendants not obeying traffic regulations while carrying out their tasks.
Two were spotted by a doctor parked on double-yellow lines near Preston Park station in Brighton.
It may be difficult for them to find parking spaces at times but it is the same for the rest of the motoring public.
It is a blatant case of double standards when attendants park on double-yellow lines and then book other drivers for doing the same.
