When considering the recent decision by the adjudicator to block the merger of Balfour Infants and Junior schools, it is important to remember not all parents are rejoicing.
Many like myself, on the periphery of the catchment area, face an uncertain future for their children, who may have to find places at a different junior school.
The long period of uncertainty has not helped the potential heartbreak for the 20 or so children involved.
I might add that many of the "celebrating" parents live a good deal further away from the school than my family.
The reason they can celebrate is because they exploit the council's rule regarding siblings.
You can live up to three miles from Balfour Junior school and still obtain a place so long as you have another child going through the system.
