In reply to Ivor Caplin's query "Who is Caroline Lucas to lecture the Government?" (Letters, February 1), she is a Green MEP, Ivor, someone like yourself, elected by popular ballot.
Her job, which she is doing rather well, is to represent her constituents in the UK and to oppose what she and her colleagues believe to be bad ideas both of the national administration in the UK and the majority grouping in Europe.
In this case, the Greens are opposing the ridiculous plans to even consider expanding Gatwick. We start early because we know the weakness of Labour's grasp and commitment to environmental issues.
Environmental damage on the scale that air travel is causing will have massive social impact through air pollution, noise and increased global warming contributions - things you should be considering if we are to believe Tony Blair's rhetoric and your last manifesto.
