A man has been charged with the manslaughter of pensioner George Osborne.
Unemployed Mark Alan Heightley, 27, of The Crestway, Brighton, was due to appear at Brighton Magistrates Court today.
Mr Osborne, 75, who lived in Burstead Close, Hollingdean, Brighton, was allegedly attacked on Tuesday evening in Hollingbury Place, Hollingdean, before his car crashed in The Crestway nearby.
Mr Osborne's family today paid tribute to their 'wonderful' father.
In a statement, they said: "We would like it to be known that we are stunned at the death of our father and the events of February 5.
"We have lost and will greatly miss our wonderful father as will the many people who were fortunate to know him.
"We are receiving superb support from Sussex Police and we are assisting them as best we can."
The family asked to be left alone to "grieve the death of our wonderful father and friend".
