Strikes planned for next week against South West Trains have been suspended.
Leaders of the Rail Maritime and Transport union said they would be holding further negotiations with the company to try to settle a long-running dispute over pay and disciplinary procedures.
The union had been planning two 24-hour strikes next week, following stoppages last month, which caused chaos for thousands of travellers.
South West Trains runs 11 daily services between Brighton and Chichester.
