So we are still short of teachers - it is not surprising.
When they are recruited from overseas, they are not treated fairly. After spending money on their fare, they are placed in unattractive areas where no one else will work and where children are so badly behaved the job becomes unbearable. On top of this, they are offered accommodation well below standard.
Is it any wonder so many prefer to return home, some completely disullisioned?
I know of four such teachers who stayed only one term at a school in Essex. They gave up, thinking all schools were the same.
Until we can return order to the classroom, teachers will be continuing to leave, whether they come from here or abroad.
