Like many readers, I watch out for letters recalling actors of the past.
One whose name you won't see on the front of a Brighton bus or in the Walk of Fame proposed for Brighton Marina is also one of our most famous.
As a boy, he lived in Albany Villas, in what was then West Brighton.
He was a cricketer who captained Cambridge University, Sussex CCC and England in what is now regarded as their first ever Test match.
Later, he appeared on the London stage and, for the last 20 or so of his years, was one of the most popular film actors on both sides of the Atlantic.
He kept in touch with Brighton and visited the County Ground, Hove, in 1948.
His ashes are buried in St Leonard's churchyard in the family grave. He was, of course, Sir Charles Aubrey Smith, known in county cricket as "Round the Corner" Smith.
