Being bald and fat might not be society's idea of physical perfection but actor Nigel Cooper says he's made a good living out of it.

His finest moment - playing, somewhat unsurprisingly, a bald, fat, and naked man in a Daewoo car advert - is making a comeback later this month.

Fondly known as the 'Fat Naked Man', it has won a place among the world's weirdest and funniest adverts on BBC1's Commercial Breakdown show.

The advert, which took a day to film and was broadcast in 2000, features Nigel morphing from an exploding airbag into a naked, grinning driver.

The 38-year-old, from Burlington Road, Worthing, has no regrets about his choice of career.

He said: "Being a performer I'm marketing myself on the fact I'm bald and fat and if it makes people laugh then even better.

"It's always good to see your work coming out of the cupboard again because some of my friends missed it the first time round.

"I was wearing a flesh coloured G-string to film the Daewoo advert. It looks like I'm naked though."

Nigel, who has just won a part as the Fat Controller for Thomas The Tank Engine promotional appearances, can make up to £10,000 for some adverts.

He said: "My family think it's hilarious. My parents think I should get a proper job and settle down.

"They are proud really but just don't show it because they think I'm nuts."

His career started playing a bald alien for children's television in 1996.

Since then he has progressed to adverts, memorably playing a floating head for North West Trains.

In between jobs he drives on-call doctors to night appointments to support himself.

Nigel added: "I got recognised once for that car advert in Brighton so I'm very proud of it. Hopefully someone will see the advert and give me a job in something else."

Nigel's advert appears on February 25 on Commercial Breakdown at10.30pm on BBC1.
