A man has paid tribute to his friend who was a well-known car dealer in Brighton.
Jim Leach, of Telscombe Cliffs, said his friend, Archie Hazell, who has died at the age of 75, was a well-known figure in the city.
Jim, 65, said: "Lots of people knew Archie. He ran Hazell Autos under the viaduct where Sainsbury's is on Lewes Road and many people bought their first cars from him.
"People were always dazzled by his white teeth and his smile. He was a wonderful man."
Mr Hazell, whose father was a fairground boxer, moved to Ringmer, near Lewes, in 1949 and lived in the family caravan. He moved to Sheepcote Valley, Brighton, in 1950.
Mr Leach said: "I met Archie when I was 14. I had an interest in anything on wheels and he let me drive his stock car. We were friends straight away."
Mr Hazell lived with his wife Bette in Ashdown Road, Brighton.
He had five children, Gloria, Jeffrey, Andrew and twins Arthur and John.
