A former jailer appeared in the dock today charged with stabbing a Brighton man to death.
Brian Rudwick, 34, of Tarner Road, Brighton, was accused of stabbing to death Bill Davey on Friday night.
Mr Davey, a 41-year-old father of six, died outside his home in Nuthurst Place, Whitehawk. He was knifed six times and cut across his throat.
Mr Davey had been due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on February 27 to face three charges of rape and four of indecent assault.
Rudwick was remanded in custody at Brighton Magistrates' Court - where he formerly worked for Premier Prison Service - to appear at Lewes Crown Court on February 28.
